With respect to Mr Edward's claim, as it appeared on investigation that the valuation did not exceed an equitable compensation in this case, the proposed sum of 2000 dollars was allowed by the Council.

on a certain piece of land, without any lease from Government, or any derived title from a purchase at auction or otherwise, has been resumed by Government, paying Doctor Kennedy the value of the house, the sum of 5600 Dollars; but as this same house has
been since let to the Chief Justice at a rent of 100 dollars per month, or 1200 dollars
a year,
the income constitutes ample remuneration for the sum disbursed, at above 21 per cent.
