It is indeed a delusion or
conception
to talk
of Hong Kong becoming
a great Emporium, and to liken it to Singapore. The circumstances
and position of Hong Kong & Singapore
present no resemblance whatever.
Singapore is a rich productive
country, not barren.
leading to every place,
surrounded
by a populous country
abounding
in Commodities
which can be
exported
for
cultivation
at the extremity
of a Coast line of
2000 miles, and which for half
the
year is readily accessible in
one direction.
