Harighing, 30th May 1844.

We are in receipt of your

letter of yesterday's date, with a letter to your address from the Colonial Secretary, handing you an Extract of a letter from the Deputy Post Master in reply to complaint made

by you for incorrect delivery or detention of your letters.

In the Extract from the Deputy Post Master's letter he has made statements unfounded in truth, as far

as we are concerned, which we point out as follows.

First. We are not aware that we officially notified to the present Deputy Post Master, that we were authorized to receive your

letters, but we did to His Excellency the Governor 25 May, 1844.
