persons connected with Government, the letters addressed to them.
Another complaint has also been made by Messrs. Dirom Gray & Co., that two letters addressed to them by the old Country (England) were delivered only on the 24th, although they appeared to have borne the postmark of the 14th.
Assistant Messrs. Fromage & Co. state that daily applications are made at their office by Messrs. Libb Livingstone & Co. for any letters that might happen to be there addressed to them.
His Excellency calls upon you for any explanation you may be in your power to give of such an inefficient discharge of your duties in the Post Office, where a regular and sure delivery of letters is of such importance both to the public service and to the interests of a large mercantile community, such as exists in this Colony.

His Excellency has just received the subsequent complaint of the same nature from Rear Admiral Sir Thomas Cochrane, and instructs me to call upon you to explain it at the same time.

Colonial Secretary.
