I am directed by His Excellency the Governor in Council to inform you;

that an Official return addressed to Sir Henry Pottinger, Bart., which was brought here by the "Maid of Athens" on the 1st instant, was only delivered to him yesterday.

This was by gross neglect in your Department.

It is the more unwarrantable, at a time when the Establishment of Coolies attached to the Post Office was reduced in consequence of the performance of the duty of delivering letters for which they were retained, you allowed to continue two of them then employed for the express purpose of forwarding to J. J. Scales Esq., Deputy Post Master, persons...
