I am directed by His Excellency
the Governor in Council, in reply to your
application of the 16th Instant, to inform
you, that he will provisionally and until "the pleasure of Her Majesty's Government
on the subject can be Known, authorize
your employing two clerks in the place of
Mr. Spring, at Salaries not exceeding
$100 & $100 per month, both included. With this assistance, His Excellency expects that, in future, cause will not be
given for the great complaints, that have hitherto been made against the Post Office, since your arrival, on account of delay in sorting the mails, and
