I am directed by His Excellency the Governor in Council to acknowledge the receipt of your two letters under dates the 28th Ultimo and this day with your Instructions which are herewith returned.
His Excellency is quite satisfied after perusing those Instructions that it is not possible for you to carry them into effect, at least at the commencement of your duties, without severe assistance.
His Excellency is therefore pleased to grant you the use of the present Post Office - which is a Government holding - pending the pleasure of Her Majesty's Government, and further to authorize Thomas J. Scales Esqre Master of the Property Lost
