trust that a consideration of the present Despatch and it's Enclosure will - incline Your Lordship to sanction the employment of Mr Anderson as
Surgeon
to the
Hospital.
Colony, where sickness has
unfortunately been so prevalent during
the hot months
of
the year... among lower grades of the Civil Servants of Government.
It appears that a sickness similar
to that
of last summer has already
broken out, especially among
the European Police who
are
exposed by night and
day to the influence of the Climate. Relief
has been afforded
to many
of these - men in the Seaman's Hospital- attended - by Mr Anderson who is ..-
indefatigable in his exertions towards the destitute sick. I therefore strongly
recommend to
Your Lordship the
propriety of combining Colonial Hospital with the Seaman's Hospital already
commenced by the liberal donation of 12,000 Dollars from
Parsee Native
This measure would be the means of providing medical relief to the Police force and others at a cheaper rate than could be done separately.
Your Lordship will have perceived
that Sir Henry Pottinger recommended a donation from Government equal to that of
the individual Parsee.
