A. J. Gordon Esq. was attacked with
fever at Houghing in the mouth of September last (1843) during which I was his Medical Attendant
The attack was a severe one :
that malignant kind of remittents, so
prevalent in the Colony and which in almost every
instance was attended
with fatal consequences.
Mr Gordon was fortunate in
being one of the few, who weathered this scourging pestilence ; but as was usual in such cases, from the malignant character of the disease itself, and the severe treatment requisite for its cure, the Effects produced on his constitution were so injurious, that nothing short of a change of climate could possibly restore
