Se be some as Copies can be all contracts, torrants and other documents likely to be: of use Explaining the transactions to which they relate I propose sending to the Colonial Offices a duplicate of the accounts Since 31 March 1842 which with those previously rendered to the Foreign Office form a complete record of the Expenditure of the Island from its occupation in May 1841, to the exchange, of the Ratifications in June 1843 when it was proclaimed to be a Colony of the Crown.
The Originals of these Accounts and documents have been transmitted to the Government of India by the hand of Lieut. Colonel Willow, C.B. as per accompanying receipt.
407 The payments in this document are so connected with works in progress previous to the 30 June 1843 that explanatory notes will be requisite to Enable the Officers of Audit to trace: the origin of the different expenses, but these accounts and vouchers will serve to shew the nature and Establishments as they at present exist, as well as amount of the contingent Expenditures
