Chief Magistrate's office, Hongkong, 26th May, 1845.
I have the honor to request that You will submit to His Excellency Sir H. Pottinger, Bart, G.C.B., that in consequence of H.M. 26th Regt being no longer on the Indian Establishment, I shall have to refund to the Audit Office in Calcutta all pay and allowances received by me since the departure of the Head Quarters of my Regiment from Bengal, which I have reason to believe (by the public papers) to have taken place on the 15th of last March. I consequently respectfully beg the kind consideration of Your Excellency.
