I am directed by the Major General Commanding to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of this date on the subject of the formation of a Police for the Service of the Colony, by transfers from the 58th to the 98th Regiment and to beg you will convey to His Excellency Sir Henry Pottinger, the Major General's best thanks for your communication as well as the satisfaction the Major General has received from giving effect to His Excellency's wishes.
