I have received the commands of
the M. General to acknowledge the receipt
of your letter of the 8th Instant.
On a mature consideration of the whole subject, on which he has endeavoured to obtain the best information on the... financial question from Mr Commissary General Coffin, the Major General is of opinion that it will be better for him at once to relieve the Government from all Charge on the subject of a residence for himself and his personal staff.
He has therefore given direction to the
Military
to take Mc Lane's House as a
Quarter, and will pay the rent from the
R. Woosnam Esqre
