In acknowledging the receipt of your letter of the 5th Instant regarding "Quarters for yourself and Staff, I have the honor to forward a copy of a minute, which I laid before my Colleagues in Council, under yesterday's date.

As The Commissary General is placed directly under your orders as Commanding Her Majesty's Troops in China, and as my Official connection with that officer extends only to the provision of Funds, I beg you will be so good as to obtain from him the information
