These are to Certify that Mr. 213 Schen Hoctoriste Color derjoint, born in the Merish of Muckncy in or near the Tour of Castlerlayney in the County of Monaghan was enlisted at Castellasprey for the aforesaid Corps on the 8th July 1825, at the age of 18 Years. That he has served in The army for twelve Years and four months, Was Corporal 21 days, and Serjeant Six Years, and 176 days. Was in the West-Indies 8 Years, and 126 days. He is discharged in Consequence of paying the regulated sum of £10. – Character - Autor Sergeant-Heterick has been a trusty = worthy and excellent Non-Commissioned Officer. - Dated at Senioriel (Signed) Quilonay Chombers & ball. gout. November 1867.

In compliance with the request contained in your letter of the 30th Nov, in which you mention your being about to Apply for the situation of Superintendent of Police in Gortishore, I have much satisfaction in stating that on account of your having Always conducted yourself, whilst serving in the 28 Regiment: as an Active, intelligent, trustworthy, and sober Non-Commissioned Officer, and held the Rank of Colour Sergeant and Major of a company. I should consider you were qualified for the Appointment you Anxious to Obtain, and should be glad to hear that these few lines have been instrumental in getting it for you.
