Observations In Proclamation of Henry Pottinger dated Hong Kong the 29th March 1862-

This Proclamation provided that in all common Bazaar purchases and Contracts, &c. Dollars of whatever denomination, whether whole or chopped, shall circulate at par with reference to each other, always providing that they are of the proper weight and standard. It is further declared that 2½ Rupees of the East India Company shall be considered equal to one Dollar; that 1200 cash (Copper Coin) shall likewise be equal to one dollar, and that 533 cash shall be equal to a Rupee; no other coins, whether British or Foreign, to be deemed a legal Tender.
