The customs house charges at Macao consist of an ad-valorem duty of six percent on imports levied at certain emoluments or fees paid to different offices. Some by law, a certain rate of valuations is paid to the custom house officers for carrying and weighing the goods conveyed there. As regards the fees and charges, the following most accurate information has been made public to obtain.

Cooley Hill is charged at the rate of 2 candarens, 65 decimals for each picul weight, when the goods are weighed on delivery. The charge is 22 candarens when the goods are first stored, then weighed. If the goods are stored, then weighed and again stored and afterwards delivered, the charge is 44 candarens.

The duties are levied on entry; but the goods are weighed on the ground.

The following rates of Macao tariff are based on 100 catties, 1905 taels, and pounds. The taels are changed into dollars at the rate of 720 taels for $100.
