Sound herewith for consideration, some extracts from remarks on the settlements like formed in Nongthong and the Military Works for its defence which have been submitted to The Admiralty by Capt Belcher of the Samarang and by the Admiralty forwarded to me. Before commenting with Sir H Pottinger on the subject I should be much obliged by you if you would furnish me with remarks which he may make on reading these papers may suggest to you.
