Council, I shall of course be prepared to act on it; but in the mean time I trust that I shall be pardoned for again respectfully begging that Her Majesty's Government will be pleased to take this despatch into consideration with a view to early provision for the efficient and formal administration of Justice in this Colony.

The Magisterial Duties have increased so much of late that I have been obliged, as Your Lordship will see from the accompanying notification, to appoint Mr Hillier (who was Clerk of the Court) to act as Assistant to the Chief Magistrate.
