appoint the Parson, who
during the vacancy of the Office of the Superintendent, shall administer
the Government of the
Island of Hong Kong
in
the China Seas, to hold the
Office of Chief Superintendent, and to exercise
all the Powers thereof, until such time as
Any person specially
appointed by Ourselves
to hold the said office
shall arrive in
Hong Kong
and undertake the Duties
of the said office: And
We do further direct that
so long as a
Chief Superintendent specially ap-
pointed by Ourselves
shall be in the Exercise
of the Duties of that office,
our present commission shall have no effect;
but that it shall
revive in the event of vacancy again occurring in the office of Chief Superintendent: And We do hereby strictly
Charge, and enjoin any Person acting
under that
Commission
as
Chief
Superintendent
