inconsistent with the views of Lt. Govt as now explained to you, I leave it to

"you to decide whether or not it may be expedient to modify one or

two frankso far as may be necessary to make them conformable to the present intentions of H. My Govt.

Lt: Govt would not think it right absolutely to dispossess the present holders if they

desire continuing to occupy

their several portions on the

conditions on

which they are now

occupying

or to impose on

them,

or to calculate

the payments to be made

by them

for the future at a higher rate on account of any improvement

or additional values which the Land have received while in their possession.

On the contrary, Lt: Govt would be disposed to deal more liberally with such persons than with others, and

to afford them at least some compensation

for the disappointment of the expectations which they had been led to entertain when, although without

the sanction of H. My Govt the land was originally granted to them.

I have &c

(Signed) Aberdeen

PROPERLY
