Inperintendent of Trade in Chine, than was exercised by him previously to the late hostilities;

Army which may be in Garrison at Hongkong. It will of course be the duty of the Superintendent to keep the Governor General fully informed of every thing which may occur in China, that can be interesting
to the Indian Government; and to
pay attention to the wishes expressed
by the Governor Generals, when he
can do to consistently with the Instructions given to him by St. James's Court or, in the absence of such
instructions, with his
own views
of the interests of His Service
