Forwarded by

Sir H. Pottinger
Lord Stanley
5 March 1844
I have had under consideration
Sir H. Pottinger's despatch
of the 4th Ulto, on the subject of the aid
which was granted from public Funds towards the
Church then in course of erection at
Hongkong.
You will easily find that Sir H. Pottinger's despatch on this subject,
does not contain
any sufficiently definite
information to enable me to come to a decision
on the question. Before any decision be adopted it would be necessary that
you should be furnished with plans and Estimates of the
expenditure referred to.
I shall be glad to be informed whether any reply has been received to Sir H. Pottinger's last despatch on the subject.
