Very successful was the fourth meeting of the season which took place on the 4th inst. at the Happy Valley, and though the attendance might have been larger-doubtless the heat kept many away-the programme gave general satisfaction. Most of the events provided some good running and fine finishes, and the tent pegging was decidedly interesting. As the re- sult of the small attendance, the Fari-mutuel did not pay very large dividends, and neither did the cash sweepstakes produce the large prizes of former meetings. Added pleasure was given to the proceedings by the presence of the Buffs Band, under Bandmaster Hewett, which discoursed selections in their usual finished style.
