The third meeting of the season proved very successful. There was not perhaps such a large attendance as at previous gymkhanas, due no doubt to the heat, but the sport was quite as good. Everything passed off without a hitch, a tribute to the admirable arrangements, and the afternoon's pleasure was enhanced by the selec- tions played by the Buffs' Band. feature of
the meeting was the success of Mr. Johnstone, who came in first in four races, secured leading honours in tent-pegging, and just lost winning the last race by a neck.
Details of the six events set down in the pro- gramme are appended :

The opening race only brought out three entries and the item was naturally robbed of much of its speculative element. Grey Back justified the general confidence, winning fortably. The start was even-Grey Back, Lye. mun and Butcher, this order being maintained the greater part of the distance. The field, spread out on passing the football club stand, but bunched again at the village. Then Grey Back and Lyemun raced neck and neck into the straight, but the former reached home comfort- ably, Butcher just beating Lyemun on the post for second place. Time, 2.21. Parimutuel,
