COTION MILLS.-There is no business to report, and quotations are unchanged.
MISCELLANEOUS—A falę business has been transacted in Green Island Cements at $104, and in China Providenta at $91| the latter olosing in further request. Dairy Farms have again been sold, and are wanted at $19) Electrics are obtainable at $164, and Chios Light and Powers at $64. Peak Trama are quiet with probable sellers of the old at $14 and the new issue at $2. A small lot of Union Water Bats is procurable at $104. Powells, Ld., have declined to $4, but at this there are buyers. South China Morning Posts are procurable to a smail extéat at $23.

HONGKONG, 21st August, 1908. Our market still continues dull, and apart from a little more sotivity in one or two stocks in which a fair business has been transacted, thers is but litle change or feature of interest to report. Bar-Silver is quoted in London at 241. and sterling T.T. at 1/9f The rate on Shanghai bas dvanced to 75 T.T.

Unions have been
BANKS Hongkong and Shanghais have ruled steady with fair sales at $770, closing with probable buyers at the rate. London has again advanced and is now quoted at £80. enquiry for Nationals at $51 continues, but there are no sellers or business reported.
MARINE INSURANCES. booked at $755 and $750, olosing with a few shares on the market at the latter rate. North Chiass are in strong demand at Tls. 78, and there are buyers also of Yanglazes at $155. Cantons and China Traders have not been dealt in during the interval and remain as last quoted. FIRE INSURANCES.-Hongkongs have been booked at $315 and close with further sellers at the rate. Chinas can be placed at $924.
SHIPPING.-Hongkong, Canton and Macaos have been booked at $27}, and close with
pro- bable buyers at the rate. Indos have declined to $35 and $20 for the preferred and deferred combined. Star Ferries (old) are still proour- able at $25, but the new issue has sold, and continues in demand at $15. Shell Transports can still be placed at 43/6, and the preferred shares at £10.
REFINERIES. —There is no business to report, and quotations are unchanged.
MINING.-Raubs have been booked at #7, $7.10 and $74, closing steady at the latter rate. Charbonnages are unchanged with buyers at $580.
DOCKS, WHARves and Godown8.-Hong. kong and Whampoa Docks continue on offer at $109. Sales of Kowloon Wharves have been effected at $45, and there are buyers at the rate. Shanghai Docks have advanced to Tls. 84, and Shanghai and Hongkow Wharves to Tla. 167), the latter with sellers.
LANDS, HOTELS and BuildINGS. - Hong- kong Lands have been booked at $94, and West Points at $46. Kowloon Lands are procurable at $37, und Humphreya' Estates at $10. Hong- kong Hotels are steady at $80 with probable
