HONGKONG-Mr. P. Eduljee, in his Report dated 12th June, states: Heaty arrivals have taken place during the interval, but the market was well able to withstand the addition to our stock, as the quantity on hand had run down to a very small compass and comprised prinçically unsale- able goods. A fair proportion of the arrivals is in fulfilment of old contracts, In view, however of the prevailing depression in the country, deal- ers continue to act with extreme caution, and are only buying for immediate wants, as with out an outlet for their purchases they do not care to increase their holdings or interest. Now business from first hands, consequently, has been very small and confined to actual requirements. Prices generally are easier, but at the same time, while holders are meeting any demand which exists, there is no actual pressure to sell mean- while, With larger receipts and smaller off- takes our stocks show a substantial increase on last estimate, but are still within reasonable limit. Deliveries continue satisfactory, and Bom- hay is reported steady, but with little or no business doing either for Europe or Chinese. Sales of the interval aggregate 2,412 bales, arrivals amount to 12,920 bales, unsold stock estimated at 21,000, and sold but uncleared bales in second hands at about 17,000 bales. Local Manufacture:-A sale of 100 bales No. 108 at $581 is reported. Japanese Yarn:-Nothing do- ing. Raw Cotton:-The heavy purchases of the previous two weeks seem to have satisfied the internal demand, and the business of the interval includes the sale of two parcels of snperfine Bengals aggregating 94 bales at $22 and $22). In China kinds 100 bales Thoongchow have changed hands at $23. Stock: Indian 2,000, and China 425 bales, Quotations are Indian $20 to $22 and Chinese $22 to $24. Exchange on India has fluctuated slightly and continued steady FoоCHоw, June 5th.-The stock on May 28th throughout the interval closing to-day at Rs. consisted of 114 chests and 36 have since been 1881 for T/T and Rs, 136 for Post. On Shang- imported; giving a total of 150 chests, Sales hai 74 and on Japan 881, The undernoted during the week have amounted to 50, leaving business in imported and local spinnings is re- 100 in stock (Malwa, 27; Patna 7; Benares &;ported from Shanghai during the fortnight end- and Persian 60).
