HONGKONG, 3th May, 1908. generally has been less active during the past week, but for some stocks, notably Binks, a fair investment enquiry is still met with, and our market clos s firm with a tendency i: some o 8-8 to advance. Bar Silver is slightly lower at 24, d. and sterling exchange bas declined to 1.9 T Shanghai is unchanged at 744 T.T. BANKS.-Hongkong and Shanghais after sales at $6923 have advanced to 8635 with sales and further buyers. London has improved to £74. Nationals can be plac-d at $52. MARINE INSURANCES.-Unions
are quiet with small sales and further sellers at $7974. China Traders and North Chinas are still in re- quest at last quotations, and Yangisz s at the im- proved rate of $145. Cautons have been sold in a small way at $235, and more shares are procurable. FIRE INSURANCES.-Hongkongs ara firmer with buyers at $3124, and Chinas at $92 after sales at 891 and $91.
SHIPPING. Hongkong, Canton and Macaos have been booked at $29, and a few more shares ara procurable at the rate. Indo-Chinas, China & Manilas and Douglases have not been dealt in during the interval, & quotations are unchanged, There are sellers of Star Ferries at $32 and $18 for the old and ew issues respectively, and Shell Transports could probably be obtained at 458
REFINERIES, China Sugars are quiet at $135 after a small sale at the rate, and Luzons are still neglected at $15,
MINING. A small parcel of Ranbs has been done at $8 at which rate there are buyers. Charbonnages continue in request at $560.
DOCKS, WHARVES AND GODOWNS-Houg kong and Whampoa Dock‹ have been booked at $103, 8103 and $104, market closing with a few more shares obtainable at the latter rate. Hongkong and Kowloon Wharves bave been done at $52. New Amoy Docks continu in request at $9 and Shanghai Ucoks have buyers at the improved rate of Tls 83. Shanghai and Hongkow Wha: ves are quiet at Tls. 223.
LANDS, HOTELS AND BUILDINGS.-Hoog. kong Lauds are quiet at $99 with small sales and further sellers. Kowloon Lands, W、st Points
and Hotels are all procurable at quotation, and Shanghai Lands at the slightly lower quotation of Tis. 113 in the North, Humphreys Estite: have sold and continus in request a $10.

COTTON MILLS, -Hongkong Cot ons after sales at $103 have improved to 311 with buyers. We have heard of no local business in the Nor- theru stocks for which elesing quota ins are as follows:-Ewos Tls. 58; International. Tls. 57; Laon Kung Mows T 77 and oy Chees T. 261. MISCELLANEOUS.-China Borneos have again been booked at $103, and China Providen's at $9. Dairy Farms are wanted at $194 after small sales as the rate, and Electrics are in dema dat the improved quotation of $15 ex the dividend and bouus of $1.20 per share for 1907, paid on the 4th inst, Green Island Cemen's in the early part of the week were done in a smi way at $103, but latterly this stock has hung fire, and our market closes with some sellers at the quotation. Peak Tramways have improved to $13 for the old scrip, and $24 for the new, both closing with buyers. Ropes have again been booked at $33 at which rate à few shares are procurible. Union Water Boats can be placed at $11 and Watkins at $3.
