The unsettled state of change and the financial state of Europe and America have affected us unfavourably, and checked tos certain extent an incipient small revival of business. FIRE INSURANCES.-Hongkongs have ad. vanced to 32) with sales, and close steady at that rate. Chinas als have ruled Arm and sales have been made at 88, the market closing with farther buyers.

SHIPPING.-Hongkong, Canton and Macaos have been further dealt in at 301, and close a little easier with sellers at that rate, but with buyers at 30. indos remain neglected, and the rate bas fallen a point without inducing business. China-Manilas have been placed in small lots at 15, and close at that rate. Douglases are in better demand and close with some buyers at quotation. Shells remain without business, but Although the London rate has fallen to 39/6 there are no local seilers, and we quote 41s. nom. Star Ferrys continue with buyers, but without business.

REFINERIES-China Sugars have declined to 100 with a small sale, and close with sellers at thát rate. Luzons can be obtained at 14, but there are no buyers over 10.

MINING.-Baubs continue weak and neglected and close with sellers at 8, and without any busi- ness to report Chines: Engineerings have been enquired for at 144 to 144, bat sellers at 15 in the early part of the week met with no response. Charbonnages remaia in demand at quotation, but no shares are availible.

DOCKS, WHARVES and GoDOWN8.-Hong- kong and Whimpos Dooks remain neglected and out of favour with no business to report and with a closing rate of 99 sellers. Kowloon Wharves have been placed at 67, and close quiet at that. New Amoy Docks have declined to 10 with alors and no business. Shanghai Dook rates cone lower from hanghi at 70, while a few small lool sila have been effected at 71 cash, and at 74 for Marob. Hongkows have slso ruled weaker in the North, and at time of closing are quoted at 200.

LANDS, HOTELS & BUILDINGS.-Hongkong Lands bave ben placed during the week at 96 and 95, closing with sellers at the latter rate. Hongkong Hotels continue to be enquired for at 100, but shares are still unobtainable, except at an advance. Humphreys have found buyers at 10, and later at 104, closing steady at th latter rate. Shanghai Lands have declined to 100 wi hout any local busine«. Kowloon Lands and West Points continue totally neglected.

COTTON MILLS.-Lower quotations come from Shanghai for Ewos (50) and Internationals (50), further than these we have no changes to report.

MISCELLANEOUS, -Campbell, Moores contine on the downward path; shares are on offer at 14, and a baying rate is difficult to obtain. China-Borneos have ruled very steady at lu with sales, and glose firm at that rat. Fen- wicks have declined to 15, and Watsons are quoted at 10.70 ex the dividend of 30e. paid on the 21st inst. Peak Trams, and Watkins are enquired for at quotations. We have nothing further to report under this heading.
