I have the honor to transmit to
Your Lordships a copy of a letter addressed
by Captain Elliot to the
Governor General of Bengal on the 21st of June, and of a letter, dated the 9th of September,
which Lord Auckland has in consequence
sent to Her Majesty's Plenipotentiary in China. His Lordships desire to call
the especial attention of Her Majesty's
Government to the 3rd and 4th paragraphs.
