SHARE KEPORTS.

HONGKONG, 7th September, 1906. A fair business has been transacted during the week, chiefly in the smaller stocks, the larger ones remaining more or less neglected. Fluctua- tions in rates have been but small, and we bare no special features of the market to report, Exchange on London T.T. is 2o.. 2,¿đ., on Shanghai 724.

BANKS.-Hongkong and Shanghais continue quite neglected, and we have no business to re- port. The market closes at $825 with possible sellers at thatrate. Nationals remain unchanged.

MARINE INSURANCES.-All Marines have ruled weaker during the week, and we have no sales to report. Unions could be got at $785 with offer, and Cantons probably at 8320, China Traders continue nominal at quotation. but a few sellers would probably accept $100 if buyers came forward. The Northern Insur. ances remain about the same with no local busi- ness to report.

FIRE INSURANCES.-Hongkongs have been placed during the week at 8330 and 8327, the market closing steady at the latter rate. Chinas have changed hands in small odd lots at 893, and close steady to strong at that.

SHIPPING.-Hongkong, Canton and Macaos contians in demand at $28, but few shares seem to be available, and we have only a small busi ness to report. Indos have changed bands in small quantities at 874, and at time of closing a few more shares are enquired for at that rate. Douglases and China and Manilas have ruled weakish, and after sales of the latter at 824 the market for both closes with sellers at quotatic na. In Star Ferries and Shells we have nothing to report, the lattor however are looking a little firmer, and offers to sell at 27/6 meet with no Iesponse.

REFINERIES-Sales of China Sugars are reported at $160 for cash, and at $163 for November, the latter being an isolated sale. The market closes with a few small lots if shares offering at $160. Luzons are weaker with sellers at $22, and a lower rate would prob.bly be accepted.

MINING.-Raubs have further advanced to $8, after sales at 87 and 874, the stock closing firm at the higher rate.

FREIGHT.

Messrs. Wheelock & Co's Freight Market Report, dated Shanghai, 30th August, 1906, states:-There is still no cargo offering on any of the "Home" berths, and there is no change to report since last writing, except a slight "spurt on the New York via Suez berth, where there has been a little more tes going forward than was expected, although the quantity shipped to date by this route is a long way behind last year's figures. Const wise: Still no improvement to report of any sort, and any quantity of tonnage of all kinds and sizes is offering for employment with hardly an offer worth speaking of on the whole market. We hope to see some slight improvement when the new rice erop is ready at the River Ports, but there is such an abundance of tonnage eagerly waiting for it that it is hardly likely to make very much impression.

From Hankow per Conference Steamers.-To London and Northern Continental porta 48/- per ton of 40 e. ft. plus river freight. To Geno, Mar- seilles or Havre 41/6 per ton of 40 c. ft. plus river freight. To New York (via Suez) General Cargo 32/- per ton of 40 c. ft. plus river freight. To New York (ria Suez): Tex 39/6 per ton of 40 e. ft. plus river freight. To New York (overland): Tea G. $1; cents per lb. gross, plus river freight. To Shanghai: Tea and General Cargo, Tla. 1.60 to 1.80 per ton, weight or measurement.
