The improvement is not great, but as offerings are likely: continue moderate, owing to the high price of wool in the home markete, this should only be the dammencement of the steady upward movement. Carton Yarn-English.-A temporary dearth of 2 and 8 fold bleached Yarns has caused a. spirt in these goods, but it is not anticipated. it will be of long duration.

BANKU, — Hongkong and Shanghais con- ́tinue firm and scarce, and it is difficult to get sbares to meet the small demands which ara cropping up" Offers in the early part of the week at $8:0 brought out a few shares, but with a further demand sellers quickly declined to part with any more except at an advance. The market closes with buyers at $829, Nation-/ als remain unchanged and without basiness, -but with probable buyers at 833. 12.
MARINE INSURANCES.—Uniöna have been again placed at 8810, and close with further buyers at that rate. Canto a-have įfurther decll to $350 without inducing buyers to come orward. China Traders are still enquir... ed for but none are available, North Chinas and "Yangstses" are without local business at quotations.
FIRE INSURANCES. Hongkongs chanted hands in the early part of the week at 83071, and a demand at time of writing at 8310 fails to find sellers, the market closing firm at that rale, Chinas continue in a small demand at 885 with small sales.
SHIPPING. Hongkong, Canton and Macaos have been placed during the week at the im- proved rate of 826, and shares are now wanted at $26) Indos remain neglected with sellers at quotation. The Report, which has just arrived from 1 don, shows than the Company earned, after maker full provision for deprecia- ton, the sum of £27594 odd, admitting of a dividend of 5 per cent, and carrying forward £2,452 odd. Douglases have been placed at $41! and close with further buvers, Shells have im- proved to 27/6 locally, and in London to 296. Star Ferries remain unchanged and without business,
