SHARE REPORT. HONGKONG, 16th February, 1906.-The re- cent royal visit, and the race holidays have completely dislocited the market for the week under review, and the business we have to report is only of an erratic and spasmodic nature. At time of writing things seem to be settling down again to normal, but it is difficult to do business, and the quoted rates for a great may stocks must be considered as more or less nominal,

BANKS. Hongkong and Shanghais have|II. ruled with sellers at $895, and a few shares have changed hands at that rate. Nationals remain unchanged.

MARINE INSURANCES.-Unions have found buyers at $735 and close with buyers at that rate. China Traders, in the earlier part of the week, were negotiated in fair lots at $90; later, however, the rate improved to $91 and the market closes with buyers at the latter rate. Cantons have improved to $335 without lusiness. In the absence of local busines the quotations for Yangtszes and North Chinas are taken from Shanghai.

FIRE INSURANCES.-China Fires have been placed at $ 8. Hongkongs continue out of favour and without sales at the reduced rate of $320,

SHIPPING.-Indo-Chinas continue quiet at $97, and we have no sales of any importance to report; the latest quotation from Shanghai is Tls. 69. Hongkong, Canton and Macao Steam- boats have been placed at $254, cum div. of $1 paid yesterday, the market closing steady at $25, ex div. China-Manilas Star & Ferries, also Donglases remain unchanged & without business. REFINERIES.-China Sugars have changed hands at $216) for the approaching settlement, at $218 for March and at $220 for April. The market oloses with no sellers under $216 for cash. Luzons have been placed at the advanced rates of $85 and $40, closing with probable sellers at the latter rate.

MINING. Raubs, after small sales at $4.10 and $4, close with sellers at $3.80.

DOCKS, WHARVES AND GODOWNS.-Hong- kong and Whampoa Dooks continue quiet at $165, with small sales and sellers. Kowloon Wharves have declined to $107) without sales. Farnbams have recovered in Shanghai to Tis. 124 with buyers, but we have no local busi- ness to report. We have nothing further to report under this heading

LANDS, HOTELS AND BUILDINGS.—All stock s under this heading have ruled quiet at quotations, and we have no business to report in them.

COTTON MILLS.-Ewos have improved to Tls. 54; with this exception we have no changes to report.

MISCELLANEOUS.-China Providents have found buyers at $8.90 and close steady at that rafe, Green Islands have been placed at $31, $314 and $314, closing firm at the last rate. Watsons have been done at $13 and Powells at $11. Beyond these we have no further trans. texions to report.

Messrs. J. P. Bisset & Co.'s Share Report for the week ending the 8th February, 1906, states:- Since our last issue a fair business has been done in most of our principal stocks, both for cash and forward delivery. We do not find any difficulty in finance, and wo think that easy, money should possibly influence freer dealing on our share market than we expected before China New Year. There is a fair amount of money for investment which accounts for the greater portion of the cash business that has been done this week. The T.T. rate on London to-day is 2/10. Banka.--Hong- kong and Shanghai Bank. No business reported, but there are buyers of small lots at $895. The London quotation is 298, and from the South we have the price quoted as $897.50 sellers. Marine and Fire Insurance.-Yangtaze Insurance. A demand has arisen for cash shares, and there are now buyers at $177.50 with no shares obtainable. Shipping-Indo-Chinas. A fair amount of busi- ness has been done during the week at Tls. 70 and 70 cash, Tis. 72) March, Tis. 74 June, Tls. 75 July, but on the 5th a reaction took placo and shares have considerably weakened.

Wo quote the March rate as Tls. 70 with sellers. At anything less than this no shares can be placed. Shanghai Tugs, Ordinary shares remain at.] Tls. 58, and Preference at Tls. 50 with a quiet market. Docks and Wharves.-S. C. Farnhamı, Hoyds. We have to report a serious decline in the price of this stock. On the 1st inst. we opened with a cash sale at Tls. 130. On the same day shares were dealt in for April delivery at Tls. 130 and 129. On the 3rd Tls. 128 was reported for April. A fair parcel of shares coming into the market on the 5th and 6th caused the rate to decline to Tls. 122 for March, followed with sales at Tls. 120. A slight reaction has taken place since, and shares are in demand for March at Tls. 121; Ts 122 April, while for June and July Tis. 125 and 120 respectively has been done. This market closes in a rather unsettled state. banghai and Hongkow Wharf Co. A fair amount of shares have changed hands at Tls. 230 cash, and for March Tls. 235 and 234, closing weak at quotations. Yangtaze Wharf and Godown Shares are wanted at Tls. 216. Sugars.—- An unreported transaction of Peraks has taken place at Tls. 75 cash, but there are now sellers at Tls. 721. China Sugars are quoted from the south at $210 nominal. Mining. Chinese Engineering & M. have changed hands at Tia, 0.75 for bearer scrip cash. Weihaiwei Golds. A sudden demand has carried the rate from $8 to $11 cash, including the call of $2 made on 31st June. There are small buyers at this figure. Lands. Shanghai Lands. No business under this heading. Industrial-Ewos. There has been a strong demand for cash shares, which have been dealt in at Tls. 47), 48 and 49 cash, closing with buyers at Tls. 50. The rate for March is Tls. 52 with buyers. Laou-Kung-Mows have been placed at Tls, 60 cash, but there are no shares obtainable now at this rate. For March Tls. 85 will bring out shares. Gas shares romain very firm at Tla. 130, Ico shares are wanted at Tls. 22). Shanghai Paper and Pulps. On the good report issued this week there has been a strong demand for cash shares, and business has been done to-day at Tls. 160. Green Island Cements have been placed during the week at $29 from Hongkong. There are now buyers at $30. Langkats. There is no change in the rates to report since our last issue, but a large business has been done in the stock this week. The cash rate remains at Tls. 230; for March, shares have been dealt in freely at Tls. 230 and 232), and for June a good business has taken place at Tls. 2371, closing strong at quotations. Stores and Hotels.-Central Stores (new issue) bare found buyers at 87 and the old shares are $17 sollers. Astor House have been placed during the week at $27 and $28. Cash shares are scarce at the latter rate. Hotel des Colonies have changed hands at Tls. 18. Miscellaneous.-Horse Bazaars have been dealt in at Tls. 67) cash. Telophones have risen in value to Tls. 59. Loans and Deben- tures.-Municipal 1902 and 1903 six per cent. have been placed at Tls. 971. Lands 5 and 5 per cent. have sellers at Tls. 80 and 88 respectively. Gas have sellers at current rates. Shanghai and Hongkong Wharf also selling at current rates.
