TONNAGE.
Cases
HONGKONG, 12th January.--Freights remain about the same as last reported. From Saigon to this, 8 cents nominal; to one port Fhilippines, a small carrier has been closed at 28 cents; to North Coast Java, 23 cents has been accepted for a medium sized carrier. North Coast Java to this, 28 cents per nicul last and 27 cents offering for February loading. From South Japan coal port to this, $1.30 per ton; to Singapore, $1.40 per ton. Time charters.-The Norwegian steamer Pronto has been closed for Newchwang/Canton trade, March delivery. The following are the settlements:-
Oceano-British steamer, 1,739 tons, Puelo Laut to Singapore, $2.25 per ton.
Hilary-German steamer, 1,276 tons, Saigon to one purt North Coast Java, 23 cents per picul Petrarch -German steamer, 1,252 tons, three ports North Coast Java to Hong kong, 28 cents per picul.

Ex-
BANKS. Hongkong and Shanghais ruled quiet during the early part of the week with sellers at $895 and no sales to report. Later, however, on information being published that subject to audit the committee recommended the payment of a dividend of 35s. and a bonus of £1 (making £4. 10s. Od., for the year), placing $1.000,00 to reserve and carrying forward $1,700,000, the market firmed up, and sales were effected at $90 for cash, and at $916 for March The market closes at $900. The latest Londuu rate received on the 10th inst. is £94. 10s. Nationals unchanged, and without business.
MARINE INSURANCES.-Unions have been placed at $725 and $730. China Traders have found buyers at 891, but further shares are obtainable at that rate. Caulons.have been in request at $315, but no shares are forthcoming at that. North Chinas and Yangtszes continue without any local business.
FIRE INSURANCES. Both Hongkongs and Chinas have been on offer at quotations without finding buyers.
SHIPPING. Small sales of Hongkong, Canton and Macaos have taken place at $253, but sellers at $25 rule the market, at time of closing, buy. ers only offering 325. Indo-Chinas hve further advanced to $93 after sales at 91, 914 and 92 for cash, and at 94 for March; the latest Shanghai quotation is Tls. 66. Donglases bare advanced to $33 with buyers and without business, and
China-Manilas are on offer at `$20, We have nothing else to report under this healing,
REFINERIES, The market is absolutely neglected and we have no reliable business to report or remarks to make.
MINING.-Raubs have advanced to 81 with
buyers.
DOCKS, WHARVES AND GODOWNS. - Hong- kong and Whampoa Dooks have been on offer during the week at $163, and later at $162, a demand at $161 meeting with only a very limited respouse; and at time of writing buyers at $162 rule the market, while sales for March are re- ported at $167. Kowloon Wharves have been placed at $108. Farnhams have improved in Shanghai. to Tls. 122 and local sales are re- ported at Tis, 124.
LANDS, HOTELS AND BUILDINGS.- Hong- Points at $55, Humphreys at $123, and Hotels kong Lands have changed bands at $125, West at $149 and $150. Kowloon Lands continue in

small demand at $40.
COTTON MILLS.-No changes or business to report.
MISCELLANEOUS.-China Providents, after sa'es at 9.10, have improved to $9.25 with buyers, Green Islands have been placed at $29. China Light and Powers at £9, Watsons at $13, and Powells at $10 and 10. No other business under this heading to report.
