Coded in perpetuity to Her Britannic Majesty, Her Heirs and Successors.
All subjects of Her Britannic Majesty (whether Natives of Europe or India) who may be in confinement in any part of the Chinese Empire to be released.
C. Certain conditions.
D. An act of full amnesty to be published by the Emperor under his Imperial seal to all Chinese who have taken part in opposing the British Forces.
On receiving intelligence of this satisfactory arrangement, His Majesty's Plenipotentiary refrains from any further display of his military energy.
Devotion and attachment to the Queen, as well as detailed expression of thanks, which have distinguished all ranks of Her Majesty's Forces during the combined operations that have led to this result.
The claims which have been established will be doubtless attended to by the highest authorities.
Her Majesty's Plenipotentiary and Staff to be entertained at the expense of the Chinese Government.
Correspondence to be conducted with perfect courtesy amongst the Officers of both Governments.
On the Emperor's assent being received to this Treaty, the British Forces to be withdrawn from Nanking and the Grand Canal, and the auxiliary Fleet at Chinkiang to be also withdrawn, but the islands of Chusan & Koolung to be held until the money payments are made for opening the Ports of China on the terms acknowledged.
A.2.
To be held until the money payments of $6,000,000 are made.
Peace will, in future times, be equally beneficial to the interests of both England and China.
