HONGKONG, 3rd November, 1905 The market remains dull and inactive, with no special feature to report.

BANKS. Hongkong and Shanghais have ruled steady at last week's quotation, ie $9 71, but at time of writing a few small lots are obtainable at that rate, while a small demaud at $905 remains unsatisfied, Nationals un- changed.
MARIVE INSURANCES-Unions continuing in demand at $755, and finding me sellers, have improved to $760, with sales the market closing steady at that rate. Cantons remain unchanged and without business. China Trades have further advanced to $91 after sales during the | week at $39, $90 and $91, the closing rate is $91 buyers. North Chinas have been placed from the North at Tls. 91 and Tls. 901, closing with buyers at the latter rate. Yangtɛzes con- tinue neglected at quotation.
FIRE INSURANCES.-Chinas have found fur- ther buyers at 889 and close with a few sellers at that rate. Hongkongs are unchanged and without business to report,

SHIPPING. A few Indo-Chinas have chang- ed bands at $94. Shells have further advanced to 25s, with sales. We have nothing else to report under this beading..
REFINERIES-China Sugars, notwithstand- ing the completion of the settlement, have. contrary to all expectations, failed to improve their position, and shares on offer during the week have only resulted in one or two small salosat $220; the market closes dull with sellersat $220. Luzons unchanged and without business, MINING. No change or business to report. DOCKS, WHARVES AND GODOWNS, -Hong. kong & Whampoa Docks have been placed a $180, and further shares are wanted at that rate. With sares on offer at $181, however, the market closes quiet, notwithstanding the report that there is more business doing at the Docks than has lately been the case. loon Wharves have improved to $109 with buyers, but no shares are obtainable und· r $110. An enquiry forward exists, but in the absence of sellers for cash nove appear to be procurable. Farnhams have ruled fairly steady between Tls. 110 and 142, although at one time during the week the rate fell to Tl. 189. HONGKONG, 3rd November.--The volumu of basiness transacted during the perio nnder review is larger than that of the preceding fort- night, but rates show no improvement. From Saigon to Hongkong, 9 cents nominally; to Philippines, two charters on record at 29 cents and 28 cents per pieul; to Java, 22 cents last and 23 cents offering. From Newchwnag to Canton, 25 cents last. From Java to Hongkong, 27 cents for wet and 24 cents for dry sugar. From South Japan coal port to Hongkong, $1.40 per ton last to Swatow, $2.00 per ton. FREIGHTS.
Messrs. J. P. Bisset & Co., of Shanghai, in their Share Report for the week ending the 26th Oct., 1905, state:- Our market has continued very Messrs.
