Par P. & O. steamer Ceylon, sailed on 20th April. For London-289 bales waste silk, 80 bales canes, 20 packages lead ore, 160 bales hemp, 10 packages private effects, 1 box curios, 26 pack- ages chinaware, ¿ box bicycles, 11 packages woollen waste, 1 case cigars, 8 cases woodware, 1 case silks, 889 bales mate and matting, 1 case pianos, packages rattan chairs.

SHARE REPORTS.

HNGKONG, 28th April, 1905.-The market has continued quiet during the week and the bulk of the limited business transacted has been on account of the settlements. Rates, with a few exception, have been well maintained and the market closes with a firmer tendency.

BANKS.-Hongkong and Shanghais have continued in a small demand and sales have been effected at the improved rate of $7874; at time of closing $790 fails to being out sellers and the market closes firm at that rate. fow Nationals have been placed at $37 and a demand still continues.

MARINE INSURANCE8-China Traders are enquired for in a small way at $564, but no shares appear to be obtainable at that rate. Unions are to be had at $700 but a small demand at $697 cannot be satisfied. Cantons remain steady at qutations but without business. North Chinas and Yangstzes remain unchanged and without business.

FIRE INSURANCES.-In Chinus we have no change or business to report, but Hongkongs have declined to $3071 without sales.

SHIPPING.-Hongkong, Canton and Macaos continue steady at $264 with small buyers and no sales to report. Indo-Chinas, in the early part of the week, ruled firm and sales were effected at $122, $123, 8123§ and $124 for cash, and some lots were placed at about equivalent rates forward, chiefly for June, Angust and September; later, however, with news from Yuen Wo" Shanghai of the total loss of the "

by fire, the rate again fell to $122, at which rate shares changed hands. The market closes firm at 8122 cash. Douglases and China Manilas have been neglected, but the former closes steady at quotations. Star Ferries have been placed at $37 (old); Shells remain quiet at quola- tion with small sales.

REFINERILS.--China Sugars. A few more lagging settlement shares coming on a tight money market has caused a further fall in .this stock, and forced sales have been effected at $221 after sales in the early part of the The market closes week at $223 and $229. 'rather firmer with buyers at $221, Lazous remain unchanged and without business at $27. MINING. No change or business to report under this heading.

DOCKS, WHARVES, AND GODOWNS.-Hong- kong and Whampoa Dooks have further im- proved to $205, with small sales for cash and at equivalent rates for August and September; market closing with a few shares on offer at the rate. Kowloon Wharves continue quiet and neglected with no business to report. Farn- hams have been placed at $156 and $155, closing at $159 in Shanghai. New Amy Docks continue out of favour at the reduced rate of $21 with small sales and sellers.

LANDS, HOTELs, and BuildinGS.—llong- kong Lands are in the market at $128, without inducing buyers to come forward. At $127 how- Hotels have ever a few small lots are wanted.

MISCELLANKOUS, China Providents have declined to $84 with se lers after sales at $83. Dairy Farms to $17 with sales, and Fenwicks to $324 after fairly large sales at $35 and $341. In the last mentioned, the closing rate must be looked upon in the nature of a forced one, to clear a small parcel in the market at time of closing. Greeu Islands (new issue) have again been placed at $17, while a few ohi shares are on offer at $27. Chius Light and Powers are enquired for at $9. New Steam Lundris at the improved rate of 141, and Watsons at an advanced of 50 cents, i.e. $13) for old and $13 for new issues.
