Cebu was the first to shoot out. but Jungle King and Roy Morn Rose and the Spirtle came up and passed him, the former winning by a length and the latter running respectively second and third. Time:

THIRD DAY.
A thick blanket of mist over-spreading the Colony early yesterday forboded a bad race day. The wind slewed around to the north-east and blew the clouds away shortly before the first race, the sun smiling on the gathering at Happy Valley when the weighing bell summoned jockeys for the Grand Stand Stakes. After the second race the wind veered again, and a few drops fell. After the third race there was a heavy downfall. The course was heavy. The band of the Royal West Kent Regiment played selections. The attendance was fair, but not nearly so large as on the previous days,
Invincible Rose, a favourite, romped home in the Grand Stand Stakes; and Salem in the Great Southern Stakes. The Governor's Cup was carried by the Gem Rose.
Mr. Gresson, on Zodiac, won the Ladies' Parse. This was presented to him in the Grand Stand, by Mis: Noel, just before' tiffin. The prize was a silk purse bearing the Jockey Club's colours, with gold horse shoe pendants. There was much che ring. Mr. Gresson in replying presented Miss Noel with a handsome bouquet of flowers in a silver stand.
After tiffin the weather brightened up con- siderably, but it came on wet again after the running of the Flyaway Stak. A massed naval band took turn-and-turn-about playing with the Royal West Kent band.
Grafton, ridden by Mr. Gegg, was an easy winner in the Phaethon Stakes. Polk's took the prize in the Consolation Stakes.

Entering the course from behind the bamboo hedge Invincible Rose and Saxon King were in front, with Nomination close up, Tuscan King brought up the rear. Up hill the latter gained considerable ground, securing third place from Nomination at the black rock. Saxon King then fell back and Croome took second position, Cascade also coming up. cible Rose rushed some three lengths ahead of the field, but Tuscan King and Croome closed on him entering the straight.
