There is no improvement to advise in the demand for "spot" goods generally, though a strong en- quiry continues for certain makes that are in short looked for and taken prompt delivery of from the supply, and parcels bought to arrive are anxiously steamer. As regards forward business, however. there is still some eagerness to buy, and contracts are being made for delivery later and later next year; neither do prices seem to stand in the way, From commencement of Season the Exporting being really marvellous. The Mar-122, bales canes, 46 bales feathers. For London ket in New York is firm, but a steady demand con- tinues even at the increase in prices. Quite a fair amount must have been done during the interval, delivery ranging from December to April. The Yarn market has been a little more active, both for imported and Local Spinnings, heavy forward contracts for the latter being quiet a feature this week.
