HONGKONG VOLUNTEER CORPS..
RIGHT HALF NO. 2 Co.
The final shoot for the cup presented by Sir Thomas Jacksou took place at Tai Hang Range on Saturday and Sunday last, and the cup was won outright by Corp, B. W. Gray. Gur. H. 8. Holmes shot well and looked very like winning when he went back from 400 yards with 64 to his credit and only 24 to make to beat Grey's 87, but unfortunately he failed to find the target with his sighting shots at 500 yards and left Grey the winner by six points. The competi tion for this cup has been going on since 1902.
ROYAL HONGKONG YACHT CLUB.
NINTH CLUB RACE,
The course for this race was the same as for the last club race, round a markboat off Chung- hue and the North Fairway Buoy.
The championship yachts sailed on Saturday, last, when light and variable airs prevailed. The Elspeth got off with a long lead at first, but at the west end of Stonecutter's the four yachts were level. Here the Elspeth and Dione again found a nice breeze, and seemed as if they would finish the course in good time, but calms and a foul tide stopped them in the last run home, so that neither yacht could finish before the time limit, which is now at 6 p.m.
On Sunday the day opened with a fresh breeze from the S. W., but by i p.m. it had died away considerably, and in the evening calms and light airs prevailed. The one-design yachts 'started at 1 p.m. The Kathleen led at the Chunghus markboat in the first round, but getting into a calm at the Fairway Buoy was passed by the others. The Cotteen led at the second round, but was passed by the Min in the run hom>. The times at the finish were:-
