Mr. Eduljes in his report, dated Hongkong Dec 30th saya Nothing of interest has occurred in this market during the past fortnight. The demand for twist has dwindled into a minimum, only a few small parcels for early requirements being reported sold at or about previous rates, and it now looks as if importers would have to make up their minds to carry their stock until the winter demand comes round, or even later, when: the China New Year Holidays are well over. Meanwhile the goods in Native hands are more than sufficient to carry them over this term. The position of the market may be considered fairly strong, and considering the condition of our large neighbouring market of Shanghai, as well as Bombay; a muah bolder front has been assumed, and for the present no decline in rates is likely to be submitted to.
› Local & Manufacture: No business has been reported.
Japaneso Yarn :-The sale of a small parcel of 25/bales Settsu-No7208 at $188, has been reported. Close string.
4
Raw Cotton-Rates are prohibitive, and the fluctuations on the other side in Indian descriptions are not at all reflected in this market, consequently the
e market is at a standstill. An advance of $1 in Ningpo has been established, but no sales have transpired. Stock: Indian abont 200. Quotations are Indian $29 to $32 and Chinese
e on India has fluctuated wildly and at Re1139 for T/T and Es. 129Į for Shanghai-714 and on Yerohama 85§.
