For the purpose of encouraging Japanese trade in Siam, the Japanese Minister at Bang kok. Mr.Inagaki, is reported to have approached with a suggestion that the Osaka Shosen Baron Kodama, Governor-General of Formosa, Kaisha's regular subsidised service to Formosa should be extended as far as Siam.
It is rep rted in Shan hai from Kwangsi that General Plan, commanding the Tsochiang Circuit of Kwangai, who e troops have joined the rebels, upon being ordered by Viceroy Sham to resign, committed suicide immediately after receiving the Viceregal order.

We understand that the Admiralty has definitely decided to go ou with the new dock on the island, in spite of all difficulties occasioned by the original imper ect ideas formed of the nature of the Harbour battom at the selected spot. The task will be much more expensive than was at first allowed for, but the Admiralty has decided nevertheless to have it carried to completion. Some correspondence will be found on p. 24.
