Th`ra being still nothing offering in this class, subjoined quo ations are purely nominal. At the moment of closing small sale is reported forward of 10 Bales each N. 1 & 2 at $840 averige. Filatures.-The active enquiry for Europe report- ed in our last has held throughout the fortnight and a large business has been done at steadily advancing prices. The settlements given below are practically all in New Silk, which has sold to $1.050 for Wing Cheong Sing 11/13, $1,000 for King Shing's Gold Lion 13/15, 8890 for Yee Woo Cheong 18/22. A parcel of 10 Bales Po King Wo 9/11 was done at $1,070.This size, although in very keen demand, remains out of supply and it is almost impossible to get realers to quote a price. Values of Best 3e Ordre have steadily advanced in the producing districts. 1870 average has been paid for 11/13, 13/18 | 14/18, and there are buyers to day of this assortment at $880. The size of 11/18 is very scarce and dear, being quoted alone at $925/990. The Second Crop is reported somewhat damaged by continuous wet weather, but we cannot yet definitely state to what extent. Short-reels. There is nothing doing in this class for America. Kwong Shun heong 8ld out the balance of his 6th crop reelings (3) Balos 14/16 to Europe at $990. Waste Silk-Our quotations for Steam apply to Old Season's stock, which is now almost exhausted. A sale of Ext. Sel. opened was made at $1891, but prices have since harden: ed for best selections of this grade. Pierced Cocoons opened with a sale of 1 0 Bales, First Crop, at 897, an isolated transaction considerably below ruling market rates.

Eduljae says in his Report, dated Hong- kong. 5th June:-The market during the past fortnight has Leen somewhat featureless, “but considering the season of the year a moderate enquiry has been experenced and a fair amount of business put through at or about late rates. The prevalence of famine and brigandage in most of the consuming districts continues to deter our dealers and curtail operations. The Bombay market is reported strong and active, but the fluctuations on the ther side are not reflected here and importers have been controlled purely by local conditions. At the close, the demand still continues and both buyers a d seller- appear satisfied to work on present basi1.
Local Manufacture:-Business reported has ben small, say about 400 bales, comprising 100 bales No. 10s at $102) and 280 bales No. 12s at $105, all forward delivery.
Japanese Yarn:-Demand has fallen off con- siderably, but values are maintained and about 426 bales have changed hands on the basis of $132, for Settsu No. 20s.
Baw Cotton:- With the exception of a single sale of 80 bales superfine Bengal at $25, another blank fortnight has been experienced both in Indian and China Cotton. Stocks of the former are estimated at 4,500 bales Bengal and of Chinese at 600 bales (small). Quotations are Indisu $20 to $25, and $25 to $28, Chinese. ·
Exchange on India after slight fluctuations closes to-day at Rs. 125) for T/T and Rs, 125 for Post; on Shanghai 711 and on Yokohama 81}. The undernoted business in imp rted and local spinnings is reported frou Shangbai during the three weeks ended the 30th ultimo, viz:-
In lian:-Market steady, with fair enquiry; sales aggregating 4,412 bales, including 1,850 bales No. 10s., 450 bales No. 12s., 450 bales No. | 168 and 1,862 bales No. 20s, market closing firm, though stocks were increasing and estimated at about 40,000 bales.
Japanese-There has again been a fair enquiry and sales of about 1,500 bales have been effected at Tls. 874 to Tls. 96 for No. 168. and Tls. 99 to 103 for No. 208., market closing steady.
