FIRE INSURANCES.-Hongkongs are firmer with sales and further buyers at $307). Chinas have str ngth-zed considerably, and after sales at $62, $83, and $84 are now enquired for at 8:51, and it is reported that sales habeen effected at $86.
SHIPPING.-Hongkong, Canton and Macaos have again attracted the attention of investors. and large transactions have been closed at 239 an i 8384, the market closing with some sellers Tudo-hinas have also been at the higher rate. booked in large quantities at gradually improv. ing prices, and our market closes strong with buyers at 8103 cash and equivalent rates up to Juue delivery. China and Manilas are quiet with bayars at 827. Douglases have been booked at 243, and further shares can probably be placed at this rate. Star Ferries are uo. changed at last quotations. Shell Transports have been placed at £1 5s. Od. and £1 78, 6d. and close with buyers at the latter rate.
