Hororɔxe. February 27th, 19 3. --The mar.et has ben active daring the wok and a fair basin sa has been transacted, whilst rates generally speaking have improved and close firm.
BANKS.-Hongkong and shanghais after an unsatisfied demand at $633 have found buyers at $687 cash, market closing with further buyers at the litter rats. No time business has been reported. Nationals auchanged and without business.
MARINE INSUR XCEg. - Unions have further advanced to $515 after small sales at 8310, and further shares could be played at the higher rate. China Traders have been the medium of a fair business at $57/58 and more shares oculd be placed at the latter rate at time of closing. Yangtszes have improved and are enquired for at $135 after small sales. Cantous and Straits unch 'nged and without business.
FIRE INSURANCEA-Hongkongs have ruled steady with small sales at $32 . clesing with further buyers at that rate. China Fires have changed hands at $86) and $87.
SHIPPING.-Hongkong, Canton and Macaos have found buyers at $364, $367 and $57. closing a little easier with small sellers at quotation. Indos continued to rule erratic in the early part of the week and sales were effected for cash at $97, 898 and $9a, also for April at $90, and for June at $99 and $100, later the market firmed up considerably and sales were made at 8101 cash, $101 for March und $1 3 for June, market closing at $ 02 ch and with an un- satisfied demand for June and further forward. Star Ferries have changed hands at $251 old and $14 new. Shell Transports remain neglected at 308.
REFINERIES.
China Sugars have ruled weak with sellers and no sales to report: closing Jate is $100 with sellers; Luzons neglected at quotation.
MINING.—Puaj me have declined to $37 after further small sales at 84. Nothing else under this heading calls for special roference.
DOCKS, WHARVES & GODOWNS.-Hongkong and Whampoa Dooks found buyers in the early part of the week at $215 cum div., and after. wards at $199 and 8198 ex. div., market closing steady at $199.
Kowloon Whatres have advanced to $96 with buyers after small sales at $934, 894 and $95 for each and at $991, $100 and $101 for August. Farnhams after small sales at $182 are quoted $185 sellers.
LANDS, HOTELS & BUILDINGS.-Hongkong Lands continue a quiet market with sellers at $177 and no sales to report at that rate. Hotels remain unchanged and quiet. West Points could be placed at $52, but no shares are forthcoming.
COTTON MILLS.—No local business to report under this headɩng,
MISCELLANEOUS.-Green Islands have been placed at $21† to $23, closing with sellers at $224. Watsons and Fenwicks bhave changed hands at quotations, whilst Campbell Moores and Watsons have advanced to $10 and $14 respectively. Other stooks under this heading call for no special reference.
