HONGKONG, 26th September-General eu- quiry has improved somewhat during the week under review, and a moderate volume of business has resulted at fairly steady rates,
BANKS. Hongkong and Shanghais have improved to a slight (xtent with sales at $595 aud 85974, closing with probable buyers at the higher rate. London is unchanged at £63. Nationa's are unaltered at quotations.
MARINE I SUR NCE .- Unions have further advanced with reported sales at $455 and $46 and further buyers at 8475 China Traders
have sold and can still be procured at $58 North binas are offering at 11. 1874, and Yangt-zes at 81274. Cantons are in demand and can be placed at $1775,
FIRE INSURANCES.- Hongkongs have sold at $3371 and $340, and are in strong request at the latter rate. Chinas have been done at 884 and 885, and are now enquired for at $851.
SHIPPING. Hon ko g. Canton aud Macaos are steady with sales at $36 Indo-Chines have changed ownership at $785 to $794, and close with some sellers at $79. China-Manilas after suddenly dropping to $171⁄2 have gradually ad- vauced to $21 at which buyers are still pro- winent, sellers holding for $224. Douglases have further declined to $41 sellers. Star Ferries have sold and can be placed at $20 (old; and 10 (new).
REFINERIES. - China Sugars have ruled steady with fair sales a 891 cash and $105 February, and probable buyers at the cash rate Luzons are wanted at $10.
MINING. Punjoms have sold at 84 and are wanted. Raubs are still enquired for at $5
DOCKS, WH RYES & GODOWNS.-Hongkong ad Whampoa Docks have been the medium of a fair business at $205, and close firm. Hong- kong and Kowloon Wharves have sold at $85 and $86 and are in further
request at the higher rate. New Amoy Docks continue in demand at $37.

LANDS, HOTELS & BUILDINGS.--Hongkong Lands have continued neglected, and are now procurable at $17. Kowloon Lands continue on offer at $30; and West Points at $474 | Hongkong Hotels after sales at 129 and $128 are now procurable at $127. Humphreys Estates Lave been done at $11 and S115, and can still be placed at the higher quotation.
COTTON MILLS-Hongkong Coltons can be placed at $16. There is no. business to report in the northern stocks.

HONGKONG, 26th September.--There has been a better demand for tonnage during the past fortnight From Saigon to Hongkong, 164 cents to 15 cents per pic:l; to one port Philippines, 27 cents for medium sized and 28 cents per picul for small carriers to one port north coast Java, 25 cents last and more boats could be placed at this figure. From Java to Hongkong, 20 cents for dry and 25 cents for wet sugar. Newchwang to Canton, several steamers have been closed at 25 eents; to Amoy, 20 cents is obtainable. freights are firm. From Moji to this, $1.95 to 82 per ton; to Singapore, $2 per ton. ing are the settlements:-
