Lastings-30 yds., 31 inches
Assorted factory state as previously advised, no signs of the long expected improvement in demand being apparent. The principal factors at work were the absence of rain in the interior and the weak condi- tion of the Shanghai and Northern markets. Holders were greatly alarmel and dropped their bale without selling prices from $1 to $3 inducing any extensive business, as beyond urgent and immediate requirements dealers did not offer at any price. The last day or two, however, buyers have unexpectedly taken quite another

turn and most of the sales noted below were
effected during this short interval; approved chops of superior No. 10s. attracted most attention. At the close, buying has somewhat slackened, but we believe bottom has been reached and a change for the better should not be far off.

Local Manufacture;-No new business reported. Japanese Spinnings:- Almost neglected." RAK Cotton: The feeling during interval for Indian descriptions has heen very depressed, as with the exception of a few sales of 351 bales Bengal for immediate requirements at from $221 to $24 no concession on the part of holders would induce free buying. The market closes quiet with about 2,500 unsold bales in stock. Small parcels of New Crop China Cotton have arrived and been placed on the market, sowe GO bales (small) finding buyers at from $26 to $28. The yield is quite up to the average, the quality better than that of last year, and the staple being clean and free of seeds and spots. Quotations are Bengal $21 to $24, Dacen $23 to $25, and China 26 to $28.
