Mr. P. Eduljee says in his Report, dated Hong- kong, 29th August :-Heavy arrivals have taken place during the interval, and the market was not able to withstand the addition to our stock, as reports from neighbouring consuming districts were not encouraging, and dealers showed little inclination to increase their holdings, a weak and more especially in the face of declining market bot' in Shanghai as well as Bombay. A concession, however, of one two Dollars per bale, despite a falling exchange, induced a small business in the early days of the fortnight, No. 10s, as usual attracting by far the largest amount of attention; No. 128. being in small request, but No. 163. and, 20s, were compara- tively neglected. At the close deale s have again withdrawn from the market in hopes of still further forcing the hands of importers later on, and we close, with a dull and heavy market tending down- wards.
Japanese: -Total salos about 2,00 bales on the basis of Tls. 85 to 99 for No. 16s. an 1 Tls. 90 to 934 for 203, prices showing a lecline of one to two Taels and market closing weak,
