Japanese Spinnings. Buyers have at last re- sponded to the demands of holders and cleared the market of every available bale on offer. Prices show a substantial advan of $3 t› 24 per hale, and the market closes strong with an improved prospect. Raw Cotton. The market has been steady in COTTON Piker Horas - sympathy with the advance in Bombay with more business passing in all grades of Bengal. Ginned descriptions a e in great request, but are scarve and firmly hell. The enquiry from exporters has been limited. Our Mill is in small evidence, the chief purchases being effected by local dealers for the country markets. The business of the fort. night amounts to about 1,250 bales at from 820 to $231 with an estimated stock of about 5,000 bales. We quote Indian Cotton 819 to $24 and China $22 to 825.
Exchange on India after some fluctuations closes to-day at Rs. 145) for TT Rs. 114 for Post. on Shanghai 721, and ou Yokohama 6 per cent. premium.
The undernoted business in imported and local spinnings is reported from Shanghai during the three weeks enɗed 25th instant, viz.:---
Indian.- Total salės 16,070 bales, comprising 275 bales No. 68., 6,808 bales of No. 10s., 1,988 bales of No. 129., 1,544 bales of No. 163., and 5,566 bales of No. 28., prices remaining with little alterations as those last given and market closing steady.
