MANILA.(From Meaars. W. A. Fitton & Co.'s | of shareholders on the 17th instant. Hong- report of the 5th inst.)We have to report a kong and Whampoa Dock Co., Ld., ordinary quiet share market since issue of our last oir-half-yearly meeting of shareholders on the 19th cular. There is an absolute absence of cash in instant. Great Eastern and Caledonian Gold our market, and we look for little movement in Mining Co, LA, in Liquidation, extra- the near future. There is lots of money locked ordinary general meeting of preference share- away in this city, but apparently ide us are to hold for the present. TRANSACTION. -The only one to report is in Maritimas, which changed hands at $700; the price is cheap. Orientes have been offered at our quotation without find- ing a buyer, yet this is a first-class stock, and one which has a future. DEMAND.-None.
MANILA
EXCHANGE. This will begin operations during current month, and will cause a radical change in all commercial operations. It will fill a much- felt want. MEETINGS.-Oriente, and Maritima hold meetings this month; both concerns have done well, the latter in particular. DIVIDENDS.--- The Ice Co. and Stevedoring Co. both declared dividends of 10 per cent. on past 6 month's work- ing.
SHARE REPORT.
HONGKONG, 9th August.-The business of the past week has been very dull and disap- pointing in almost all our stocks and rates, with a few isolated exceptions, are lower all round.
BANKS.-Hongkong and Shanghais have ruled very weak, and sales for cash and the end of the month have been effected at considerably lower rates than our quotation, which is given at 399 per cent. premium sellers. Bank of Chinas and Nationals are unchanged and without business.
MARINE
INSURANCES.-Unions are quiet
at $340. China Traders continue on offer at $60. Other stocks under this heading are on offer at quotations.
FIRE INSURANCES.-Hongkong Fires have been bought at the reduced rate of 8949, at which more shares are to be had. China Fires are quiet at 884 and without business.
SHIPPING.-Hongkong, Canton and Macaos have been placed at $34) ex dividend, and can still be obtained. Indo-Chinas have sold at $139 cash and equivalent rates forward, and are still on offer. China-Manilas are neglected at $62. Douglases are on offer at $54. Star Ferries (old)
somewhat firmer and in demand at $244. The new shares are unaltered with buyers at 89. Shell Transports hare sold and are obtainable at £3. 12s. 6d.

REFINERIES.-China Sugars have been in some request, and sales up to 8146 for the end of the month, and $148 September, have bean affected. The market closes somewhat weak at 8144 cash. Luzons are neglected.
MINING. Punjoms have declined to $5} sellers. Raubs hare sold, and are wanted at $124. In other stocks there is nothing doing.
DOCKS, WHARVES AND GODOWNS.-Hong kong and Whampoa Docks have sold at declining rates to 8295, at which the market closes quiet. Hongkong and Kowloon Wharves have declined to $99 and more shares are obtainable Amoy Docks are wanted at $24.
